Description

CARDS – International Congress and Exhibition on Cards, Services and Technologies is the largest Brazilian trade show for the cards business, held every year on the month of April, in the busiest city of the country – São Paulo. CARDS is one of the first trade shows of the year, and a good indicator of the direction and pace the cards industry will follow the rest of the year. In the period of three days of the event the main technologies, applications, developments, solutions and trends involving credit cards, debit cards, vouchers, payment, pre-paid cards and private labels are exhibited, presented, negotiated and planned, signaling the beginning of a new market evolution cycle.

CARDS is addressed to all the companies that issue cards as a means of identification, access, loyalty, social security, payment, etc., including banks, retailers, transportation, healthcare, vouchers, service providers and others, with an emphasis on the related business accomplishments. CARDS also targets card processors and card service companies in general.

CARDS congress is formed by general interest presentations (conference) and workshops focused on specific interest topics. The Conference is addressed to the presentation and discussion of cases, experiences, strategies and results of the use of technology as an enabling factor for the evolution of business and the creation of new products and services. Audience consists of a highly influential group of professionals and executives from many areas involved directly or indirectly with the cards business and technology, most of them managers in product areas, technology, marketing, business development, human resources, customer services, card processing professionals, project leaders, vendors, consultants, etc. Most of them are decision-makers, and usually interact intensively with speakers, vendors and other participants. The Workshops cover in depth more specific subjects, and are attended by professionals whose focus is oriented towards these subjects. The event's Congress has an overall attendance of around 500 cards market professionals and executives.

The Exhibition consists, among exhibitors and visitors, of the main technology and service vendors, their associates and users, establishing the show as the most appropriate time of the year for the announcement and introduction of innovations. Having received the recognition and institutional support of the bankers, retailers and cards associations, the show clearly demonstrates the advances of the cards industry in the country. The Exhibition gathers around 50 key technology, products and service vendors aimed at the cards market, and is visited openly by more than 2,000 executives and professionals from many market segments related to the cards business.

CARDS/2006 is the 11th edition of the event, and will be held on April 03 - 05, 2006 at the Frei Caneca Convention Center - Rua Frei Caneca, 569 - São Paulo, Brazil. The general theme will be "From Manufacture to Activation:  Card's Virtuous Circle". The event will discuss the evolution of the cards industry, the growth of the loyalty and payment applications, the penetration of cards business towards countryside regions, the inclusion of lower income population, key aspects of the cards role in e-commerce, the chip migration and many other subjects to be covered in speeches and discussion panels by the most distinguished players of the marketplace.

Congress will start with two concurrent Workshops on April 03, from 8:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.: the first one, on Cards in Retail, named "Loyalty and Private Labels: The Step by Step to the Maximization of Results", and the second, on Cards in Transportation, named "Payment Cards in Mass Transportation: Technologies, Development and Utilization Experiences". Conference will take place on the two following days, April 04 - 05, in a single room, from 8:45 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Registrations for each Workshop and for the Conference are independent.

The Exhibition will have its opening on April 03, at 05:00 pm for registered attendees and guests, and will be open for the general public on the 4th and 5th from noon to 08:00 pm. Market leaders and the main players, in the many segments involved, will be participating.

Workshop_2 - Cards in Transportation

This Workshop will cover in detail the usage of cards and related advanced technologies as a payment means in mass transportation. Being in use for some time in many Brazilian cities, this facility has the potential to spread out and become a standard of service through out the country. On the other hand, this solution requires the availability of reliable, simple and secure technologies, besides a number of  safeguards and procedures to avoid mistakes, difficulties and fraud caused by massification itself. The Workshop will approach both of the subjects just mentioned: technology, presented by market professionals and usage experiences presented by actual users of the involved solutions. Emphasis will be on interactivity, with audience participation in debates and case analyses, in order to transfer knowledge and enterprise experience.
