– International
Exhibition and Conference for Security, Services and Technologies is
an annual trade show that covers
one of today's most complex and requested subjects – security –
the technologies, innovations and systems that allow prevention, defense
and recovery against all forms of electronic attacks, invasions, fraud and
contingencies. Scheduled for a date not far from carnival and a few days
after the Easter holidays, in the busiest city of the country – São Paulo, SEG
is one of the first trade shows of the year, and a good indicator of the
direction and pace the security industry will follow the rest of the year. In
the period of three days of the event the main technologies, methodologies,
algorithms, developments, cases, solutions and trends involving cryptography,
anti-virus, firewalls, electronic signatures, secure payments, identification
means, biometrics, standards, contingency systems and sites, storage mechanisms
and services, backup facilities, recovery techniques, surveillance and recording
media, innovative money transportation, among others, are exhibited, presented,
negotiated and planned, signaling the beginning of a new market evolution cycle.
SEG is addressed to a large spectrum of business enterprises, either
large or small, that need to protect their operations and information against
the variety of attacks and loss risks that are possible in their technology and
operations environment. Those needs are not any more restricted to financial
services companies – naturally the most targeted for fraud and invasions, but
reach today any company whose operational continuity and the availability and
quality of large amounts of data are critical for success and survival.
The conference is addressed to the presentation and discussion of cases,
experiences, strategies and results of the use of new technologies for
prevention and protection, besides research and development papers on new
technical or mathematical bases related to the subject. The exhibition, open
freely to the interested public, consists, among exhibitors and visitors, of the
main technology and service vendors, their associates and users, establishing
the show as the most appropriate time of the year for the announcement and
introduction of innovations. Receiving the recognition and institutional support
of associations representative of bankers, retailers, research institutes and
government agencies, the show clearly demonstrates the advances of the security
industry in the country.
SEG audience consists of a highly influential group of some 150
professionals and executives from many areas involved directly or indirectly
with security. CIOs and technology managers, security officers, card technology
managers, telecom professionals, systems auditors, security academics and
students, etc., most of them decision-makers are frequent attendees, and usually
interact intensively with speakers, vendors and other participants.
The exhibition consists of the most important technology and services vendors
aimed at the security market, and is visited openly by more than 1,000
executives and professionals from banking, retail, telecom, insurance, cards and
many other areas, with a direct or indirect participation in the security
matters of their companies, additionally to the conference attendees.
SEG/2002,
the event's 1st edition, will be held on April
08 - 10, 2002
at the Frei Caneca Convention Center
- Rua Frei Caneca, 569 - São Paulo, Brazil. The general theme will be "Security,
its Challenges and Solutions: A Growing Market". The event will discuss
the growing needs of security, the many types of attack, the preventive
technologies, the available solutions for network protection, the impact on
e-commerce, existing standards and many other subjects to be covered in speeches
and discussion panels by the most distinguished players of the marketplace. The
event will start with a tutorial
on the many types of attack and main protection mechanisms, on April 8th,
addressed to technology, networks, security, auditing and systems professionals
working for businesses in general. The conference and the exhibition will be
held on April 9 and 10. Market leaders and the main players, in the many
segments involved, will be participating.
Parallel to SEG/2002 another trade show will be held, at the same
site and period of time: CARDS/2002
– 7th International Exhibition and Conference for Cards, Services
and Technologies, the
largest Brazilian trade show for cards business.
The exhibition hall for SEG/2002
will be an extension of CARDS
hall,
and the conference will have an independent and specific agenda.
